Data Destruction

As part of the computer/electronics recycling service, free data destruction is also included. This applies to all forms of data storage. Hard drives, solid state drives, flash storage, tapes, etc.

We often use storage mediums surrendered for recycling to refurbish computers to put them back into use. Drives are wiped using a (Department of Defense) DOD 5220.22-M (8-306./E) standard that completely overwrites all data on the drive. This standard performs 3 passes to ensure complete data destruction is achieved. This method is only used if the drive will be kept for refurbishing a computer, or for in-house use.

Any storage media that is not functioning will be physically destroyed.
